In my point of view, I think this statement is true, that students get educations in the school to be able to achieve a better life, or get a better job in the career. On another hand, as if you go further study, this does not state the fact this further study would definitely effect, or help your future. In addition, it might make you seen more intelligent, and more educated in front of another. Personally, I think it is absolutely true that the function of school is to help you to prepare for your life, because as the world changes all the time, it is compulsory to teach students how to adapt to the new environment, and cope of these changes. It is not necessary that everyone has to have the education beyond high school, every individual is different, they would have different interest, and hobby, that they want to keep on in their rest of life. In addition, it is not necessary that they need the further education as the condition to fulfil their wants. People have different dreams; they can be whatever that they want to be, for example, what if they want to be businessman, hairdresser, or cloth-designer. Well, many people in nowadays, even though that they do not have highly educated education, but they are still able to get great achievements.
‘Education is the preparation for complete living." – Spencer“Education is the preparation of the individual for reciprocal union with society; the preparation of the individual so that he can help his fellow-men and in return receive and appropriate their help.”- W. T. Harris.
It would absolutely pointless, that you try to every single detail of, for example Geography, Science, History, if you would need it in your future. For example: if you want to be a hairdresser, then, what is the need of learning history, or geography, it would be pointless, and useless, it is just waste of time in the school.
In conclusion, personally I think the function of the school is to make students to prepare for their life, but not further studying.
